Jacquelin Nagel received her BFA from Loyola Marymount University in 2017. She has been drawing and painting since childhood and specializes in oil on canvas paintings, utilizing a glazing technique that dates back to the invention of oil painting. Glazing comprises of multiple translucent layers of paint making the paintings appear as if they have a light source within themselves, creating a glowing effect that is not obtainable by directly mixing opaque paints. She takes advantage of the relationship between drawing, painting, photography and collage to explore a world of blended realities and the human figure. Her pieces are metaphors that help her to be at peace with who she is and what she has experienced. They are outward visual representations of invisible and internal emotions.
